In walking distance to the sea dike and in the middle of the cycling and hiking area "Zak van Zuid-Beveland" we rent a simple holiday home for 3 persons (cots can be added on request). The ground floor (7 x 5 m) has a compact kitchen, a dining area, a sitting area (sofa bed), a separate bathroom with shower and sink and a separate toilet. An open staircase gives access to the sleeping loft with a double bed and a single bed.
Originally, the apartment was an old storage room, which belonged to the former bakery in which we live: an extension of our house. We have renovated it ourselves and preserved original, antique features such as stable windows, old doors and uneven beams. It's an old house with a low ceiling that squeaks and squats and attracts spiders, but anyone who sees its charm can relax here completely.
The apartment has its own entrance through the gate in the garden behind the house, about 40 meters from the parking lot. We do not have a large or cultivated, but sunny garden with wild-growing and flowering shrubs and (fruit) trees. Guests can use the garden furniture, the other seating areas and the wooden playhouse. In good weather we can set up the pool. Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly to our own children, dogs, and cats.
On the asphalted promenade at the sea dike you can cycle for kilometers in both directions along the Westerschelde. Regularly seals and porpoises emerge here in the curve at Ellewoutsdijk. There is no beach in the village, but 5 km away is a small beach (Baarland). At Borssele (de Kaloot) is a dune area with a wide and long beach where you can walk for hours with the dog. The famous beaches of Vlissingen, Dishoek and Domburg can be reached in less than half an hour.
