Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Location, staff, breakfast, room view. It’s improved since we stayed last year although still a work in progress. Free drink in exchange for less housekeeping is a good idea.

Negative: Expensive dog fee. Per night fee implies more cleaning is required longer you stay which is nonsense. I very much doubt £20 of extra cleaning is done and given the number of dogs all contributing to communal cleaning there is clearly profit being made. The room and communal areas are cleaned are presumably cleaned to same standard regardless of length of stay. Pets seem to have become a cash cow. A max limit of £40 with £15 per night would be reasonable. It would currently put me off longer stays. Our windows were dirty and wedged open. The bathroom window could not be shut. I don’t understand why the window refurb has been halted. Scaffolding has been up well over a year and it now says building being repainted inc windows. Love the hotel but the refurb is mixed. Our superior room was new in some areas not other eg sealing bathroom was amateurish, windows. Comfortable enough but not really up to the price of the room.

Summary: Comfortable stay with great view. Refurb mixed progress but getting there.
