Off-Grid Forest Getaway w/WiFi on 4 Acres | Cabin in Jefferson

2 Bedroom Cabin in Indian Mountain, Jefferson
Less than an hour from Breckenridge and under two hours from Denver you'll find this 100% solar-powered cabin with 2 cozy bedrooms, a stocked kitchen, Starlink WiFi and 4 treed acres to explore.
With a few considerations and carefully timed power usage, the cabin offers many of the comforts of home. Bask in the sound of the wind in the trees and birds by day, or cozy up by the wood stove to soak in the stars at night.
Minutes away from the Colorado Trail, Tarryall Reservoir, and BLM land!
What does Off-Grid mean?
The Hidden Grove is 100% solar powered, with a small battery backup. This means, if it is cloudy, or if too much power is used at one time, the power might run out and will not turn on until the sun comes out again. If this happens you could be without power over night. If power is used sparingly, the battery is enough to keep the water, furnace, and fridge running overnight.
We love the feeling of being unplugged and have found that working within the limitations of a small solar system makes staying at the cabin more of a creative adventure and less like every day life in the city.
A few of the considerations for keeping enough battery power overnight are:
-Running only one burner of the stove at a time
-Using the washer & dryer during daylight hours
-Only one appliance on a time
If the power does go out while you are staying at the cabin, we have stocked provisions that will still allow you to keep the house warm, shower, and use the restroom. It can be quite cozy even in those situations!
And of course - if you have questions about what appliances to use when, you can always message us :)
Kitchen / Entry
Our kitchen includes a fridge, stove/range, and dishwasher. You'll have multiple options for a morning coffee with our new coffee maker, or our handcrafted poor-over filter for a fresh cup of drip. The dining table can be extended to seat four people comfortably. There is 4 burner BBQ outside that a great option for cooking that will conserve power.
Living room
The living room includes a comfy couch and windows on the south and west walls that let in a ton of natural light throughout the day. Snuggle up in front of the wood stove with a book, or relax and watch a movie. The TV includes access to all of your favorite streaming platforms.
Primary Bedroom
The primary bedroom has a comfy queen bed and large desk that doubles as a work space for two. The natural lighting is great for any video calls while you're remote working and there's a fold-out room divider in the closet to use as a backdrop.
Secondary Bedroom
The secondary bedroom has two twin beds, one is lofted. The chair also folds out into a single mattress.
Laundry Room
High-efficiency washer and dryer - for use during sunny days. We'll share notes on power usage in your guidebook.
Bathroom
Full bathroom with shower and tub. Towels, make up remover clothes, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided.
Outdoor Space
There are two decks, including one with a patio table, chairs, and propane BBQ. There is a picnic table behind the house and multiple scenic view points with chairs spread across the property.
Remote work
Great space for remote workers who want a change of scenery! Starlink WiFi and the dedicated work space in the primary bedroom make video calling easy and allow you to maintain a normal working rhythm while you soak in the beautiful landscape.
Exploring the Property
Enjoy access to just over 4 treed acres. The boundary line is marked by a line of logs. There is quite a bit of elevation gain throughout the property, including multiple great vantage points to soak in the sunset and views of the Rockies.
Supplies
Plan on getting groceries and any additional provisions you'll need for your trip on the way to the house. We love stopping at the Natural Grocers in Conifer if you're coming from Denver - the house is about an hour from there. Once you're on the property it's about a 30-45 minute drive to the nearest grocery store in Fairplay (Prather's market). The town of Jefferson is ~20 minutes away and does include a small market (with homemade fudge!) and a great local restaurant - The Hungry Moose Caboose. If you're looking for houseware and souvenirs, check out the Two Burros Trading Post that's right across the street.
Winter Weather and Adventures
The roads leading to the house are all county maintained, but if you're planning to visit during the winter months (December - March) for any skiing or snowshoeing adventures, we'd recommend 4WD/AWD vehicles and to bring additional food and supplies. It's not uncommon for the weather to be below zero during these months and the high winds / snowfall can lead to road closures.
The house does have a furnace that should keep the temperature comfortable even during the winter, but we've also found the wood stove can quickly get the entire house to a great temperature and enhance the ambiance of the setting. Instructions for how to use the wood stove will be included in your guidebook upon arrival.
