Summary: There was a mistake with our booking due to miscommunication between Hotels.Com and Mai Phuong. They were very apologetic, even apologising as we left. There were no family bungalows with Sea View. They did what they could to accommodate us and put an extra bed in a double bungalow. We were offered alternative family bungalows after our first night, but chose to stay as we were as we wanted a beach front bungalow, and with the extra bed it was OK for us. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was OK when we worked out what they do well. Good idea to ask the staff what they recommend! Wifi was weak, but we mentioned this and they installed new equipment the next day, which made it great. They now have good WiFi over the whole resort. The pool was nice and gave us access to water, with shade, in the afternoons. This is good for children. There isn't much of a beach and due to wind direction a lot of rubbish was being washed up. They had up to 4 staff cleaning it daily so that it was cleared as quickly as possible. It does seem that Vietnam has an issue with plastic in the sea! Great place for sunrise! Overall we had a nice stay. The pool makes this a good place for children if you want to be away from the crowds. There are better beaches and fancier accommodation, but these seem to be located where the crowds are. A Grab to anywhere on the island is affordable, and they rent mopeds, so it depends on your priorities.
