Summary: We recently stayed at The Cave in Oia, Santorini, and it was an unforgettable experience. The location couldn’t be better — the suite sits right between two of the famous blue domes, making it one of the most scenic and photogenic places to stay. Having that backdrop right outside our door felt like living inside a postcard. The suite itself was beautifully designed, carved into the cliffside cave for an authentic yet luxurious feel. It was spacious enough for myself, my wife, and our three children, which can be rare in Oia. The mix of comfort and tradition made it truly unique. That said, there are areas for improvement. The bathroom has no real door separating it from the main room, and the lighting is wired so that turning on the mirror lights also turns on the bedroom lights — making it hard for one person to get ready without disturbing others. At this price point, a proper door or adjusted switches would make a big difference. Another issue was the “private area” rope meant to keep tourists out. Despite closing it as instructed, we were twice confronted by professional photographers who claimed they had the right to enter. It would help if management clarified rules to both guests and locals. Also, while the many candles in the bathroom are a nice touch, no lighter was provided. Overall, despite these inconveniences, this was a magical stay. The setting is unbeatable, the views unforgettable, and with a few small adjustments, The Cave could be flawless.
