Established in 1895, Broadview Island is in Gloucester Pool, a lake that is part of the famous Trent Severn Waterway.
You and your family will be able to spread out in the multiple buildings and lakeside retreats on the island. The 2 1/4 acre property boasts a three bedroom main cottage with four sitting areas, plus 2 “bunkies”, each with their own bedroom and sitting room, as well as a third bunkie dedicated to fitness and a loft for the kids to play and read. There is a wood burning sauna and single slip boathouse at the water’s edge.
You’ll enjoy water views in all directions from the stunning main cottage which includes a large eat-in kitchen with an island that seats 4, and dining room that comfortably seats 10. Grill up a feast on the large propane barbecue then enjoy your meal at the outdoor dining table by the lake. Adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry room with a washer, dryer and wine fridge. All linens, including beach towels, are provided.
Relax in the screened-in Muskoka room with your morning coffee or after-dinner drink. The great room, which is surrounded by views of the lake, features three separate sitting areas. After watching the sun set over cocktails, head out for s’mores and ghost stories around the large, lake side fire pit.
The primary bedroom in the main cottage features a king bed, sky lights, a window seat, his and her closets, an ensuite bathroom with shower, and a desk area where you can keep in touch on the unlimited wifi. The main cottage also has a bedroom with a queen bed and a bedroom with two twin beds. The main bathroom has a shower and opening skylight.
Two separate “bunkies” include sleeping quarters, sitting rooms and decks where your family members can relax in private and soak in the view of the sun setting over the water. The first bunkie has a queen and a double bed. The second bunkie has a queen bed and optional crib.
You’ll park your boat in the boat house, which sits between 2 swimming areas. The dock area surrounding the boat house can accommodate an additional three boats.
Swimmers can wade in at the shallow, sandy bottomed swimming area that is perfect for kids, or swim from the large, South facing dock with all day sun, with loungers, Muskoka chairs, a gazebo and umbrella for your enjoyment.
Fire up the wood burning sauna at the water’s edge before cooling off in the lake.
Go fishing, or take the SUP, a kayak or the canoe for a paddle around the 1,450 feet of shoreline. Explore the island on foot along the forested 400 metre nature trail.
There are so many ways to enjoy your time on Broadview Island! For a change of scenery, though, take the boat through Lock 45 to Georgian Bay and explore its many natural islands, including Giant’s Tomb and Beausoleil. Or go the other way and take a ride over the unique Big Chute Marine Railway, the only one of its kind in North America. Once on the other side of Big Chute, stop at the famous, family run Waubic restaurant that is only accessible by boat and serves up fantastic fish and chips.
Take the boat or car to nearby Port Severn where there are a number of waterfront restaurants, including fabulous Rawley Lodge. Port Severn also has a coffee roastery named Cabin where you can enjoy your favourite specialty coffee and a variety of treats, pizza and light meals. Visit the Port Severn General Store and local marinas for any items you might need.
If you feel like a round of golf, visit nearby Oak Bay or Bonaire Golf Courses. Go for a short drive to the charming towns of Coldwater and Midland to explore their many interesting shops and restaurants.
You’ll arrive at your own private island oasis in less than 90 minutes from Toronto. There is parking for up to 3 vehicles, as well as your boat trailer, in a dedicated parking area where there is a covered boat slip for your use. You’ll embark on your short boat ride (under 10 minutes) to Broadview Island from the parking area.
