More than an escape, โLos Arbolesโ is a place to have an experience -- to connect with nature and take life back to basics with family and friends. Spanning 25 acres, the property is full of wonderfully varied species of trees and offers BREATHTAKING views of The White Mountains, which you can enjoy even in winter from the hot tub. The charming mountain cabin we call โOak houseโ -- due to its proximity to many beautiful oak trees -- is just the place to settle in for a true getaway from it all.
Relax and read a book by the fireplace, take a hike on the various trails on the property, or just sit and look out at the trees, clouds, and mountains. We have tried to create a space where family and friends can gather and enjoy each other's company -- be it on the wrap around porch watching the sun go down, the side screened porch safe from the mosquitos, or toasting marshmallows by the firepit staring up at the full moon. We have games, puzzles and large TV and have tried to provide all the amenities that make a home comfortable. Our goal is to provide a space for one to take a moment, just breathe and reconnect to what matters to you. For sleeping, the cabin has three bedrooms as well as a loft area upstairs which can accommodate additional sleepers with a foldout queen bed (we prefer this to air mattresses) on the floor.
Update: We made some significant renovations this summer (2020) that we love and we think you will like including opening up the living room by moving the stairs, adding a loft to the second floor and, on the outside, burying the power line so that it doesn't run across the view. We have updated the photos so you can check them out. Note that some of the photos are old and still show the power line that has since been removed.
If you want to explore further, Weeks State Park, offering a pleasurable walk to even more scenic views, and Martin Meadow Pond, for fishing or kayaking or water skiing, are both less than a mile away. Lancaster village is 6 mins North offering cute shops, a wonderful bakery, a couple good restaurants and an excellent brewery with outdoor seating on the river. Additionally, the Lancaster area is famous for its extensive snowmobiling trails. If you have young kids, Santa's Village is 15 minutes away. Less than 30 minutes away you can find some of the most famous and challenging hikes in the White mountains and both Bretton Woods and Cannon for skiing.
Note: To the reach the "Oak House", one needs to climb up a very steep driveway. For this reason, we recommend only 4WD/AWD vehicles. If you do not have one, message us and we can describe ways we can accommodate your 2WD cars.
