Summary: This converted carriage house is very small but packed with charm and most everything a couple might want. The ideal location makes nearly everything in Chestertown walkable, yet it's quiet and secluded. I think we probably missed one of it's best features--the gardens look as if they would be spectacular in season. It would make a lovely getaway for a young-ish couple. The building consists of a bedroom on the entry level containing a large, comfortable bed, but it's up a flight of stairs for a bathroom. The second floor also has a kitchenette (2-burner range, microwave, and toaster oven) and a nice seating area with comfortable furniture. The second bedroom isn't so much a bedroom as a crawlspace with a bed that fills nearly the entire area and has a ceiling that slopes down but at its highest point still doesn't allow an adult to stand, so to get into the room and maneuver, one is on one's knees and crawling. Getting to a bathroom (or doing pretty much anything other than sleeping) requires going down the stairs. Fun for middle-aged kids but not so much for middle-aged adults. In summary, this is a perfect spot for a couple who doesn't mind an upstairs bathroom. Charming, romantic even, and located in a quiet yet accessible part of lovely Chestertown.
