Positive: St Stephan ob Stainz is a charming village set in the hills of southern Styria. A local, well sorted grocery, a bakery, a cafรฉ, a tobacconist, a bank and a gas station make a stay there convenient. The appt is located at the Hauptplatz with a fine panorama over the landscape and over the small square. We are a retired couple mainly travelling by car for cultural sight seeing and photo shooting. We went there for a few days in the beginning of October and could enjoy warm sunny weather with fine drives in the forests turning yellow. The village is not far from Deutschlandsberg or Stainz, both of which are neat and lively little towns with interesting museums housed in an old fortress or in a former monastery. The appt itself is very spacious and beautifully decorated, fully equipped with a very high living standard. The friendly landlady works daytime in her studio on the ground floor, but otherwise, you will be the sole guest staying in the house.
