Conference and Self-Isolation Paradise in Kerrisdale/Oakridge | House in Vancouver

5 Bedroom House in Oakridge, Vancouver
A gem from the 1940s, the art deco is strong in this home! Spacious rooms, curved walls, chandeliers, and generous rooms for lounging and relaxation... plus a kidney-shaped pool, straight out of a Marilyn Monroe film, with a quiet and peaceful patio overlooking a large backyard.
If you need to host a conference for your executive team, you've got 5 bedrooms to spread out in, a large dining/board room with a huge table to sit around, windows to open, and a huge backyard to use if you'd like to keep air flow and keep your exposure to each other to a minimum. Hang out around the pool, on the grass, or on the tennis court!
The kitchen is made for simultaneous cooking and group engagement, with two couches (one is a pull out queen sized bed), a work/eating table, and some bar stools for observers to chill with a glass of wine while someone cooks up a storm. There's a very old style (but new to the house) cooktop, an ancient oven that's still performing excellent, a microwave, kettle, french press, pots, pans and many of the basics already in the kitchen to support your meal preparation.
There are 5 bedrooms:
The Blue Room: the heart of the house, this main floor master bedroom has a pillowtop queen mattress, two vintage chairs for sitting and having some tea by its floor to ceiling curved window, and a secretary/cabinet that wants you to sit and write out a letter. This is the only room with a half-bath ensuite. Located near the front of the house, it might be noisier than other rooms, but it is an introvert's haven nonetheless. With greenery beyond the windows, this room somehow manages to feel enclosed yet light; connected to the past and also to the always-fresh seasons of the trees and bushes outside. This room has a huge walk-in closet, big enough for a little one to bed down inside and be close to their parents.
The Purple Room: A purple velvet headboard graces the only room with a carpet (great for those who tend to have cold feet!) on a huge and deep queen sized pillowtop mattress. There are two windows on different walls to open in this room if you'd like a cross-breeze. The main floor bathroom is located just outside this bedroom's door.
Poolside: The only room with its own private sliding door entrance directly out to the patio holding the beautiful kidney shaped pool. Facing the backyard, it is a very quiet room with a view of trees and grass (as well as the pool). A queen sized bed awaits you in this bright room! Both bathrooms are equi-distant for this room - the main upstairs and the downstairs bathroom.
Fireplace Oasis: This long, large, and cozy space is an introvert's paradise! Also well suited to families, as there is an extra single bed located on the far side of the room, with a partial room divider available for a modicum of privacy. With its own working fireplace, this room has its own sitting room, and a memory foam queen mattress under a sari canopy. Next door to the downstairs bathroom, adjacent to the laundry room, and a short flight of stairs up to the kitchen/living room.
Bookworm Nook: This cozy room is made for people who like small spaces filled with homey things. A double bed, a desk for getting some work done, a built-in set of dresser drawers, a bookshelf with a load of books! Take one, leave one - it's a sharing library!
An additional pull-out queen is hiding in the kitchen/living room couch should you need it!
There are two bathrooms with showers, and one ensuite half bath in the Blue Room. The main floor bathroom has a glorious tub which unfortunately has been unusable for about a decade: we are still at work finding a solution to its draining problem. If this note is still here, then it is currently still not operational (well, not unless you feel like scooping out your bathwater after and disposing of it down the sink, which hey, you're welcome to if you're motivated!)
Whether you're here to relax, strategize, or to cozy up for a two week quarantine - this home will hold you with positive vibes.
Your hosts live next door, and have 6 years experience hosting guests with Airbnb. A world map showing all the guests that have stayed with us over the last couple of years can be seen on the wall of the dining/board room, and we'd love you to add your city to it!
