Positive: A welcoming and pleasant senora to greet us, helpful but not invasive, only spoke a little english, along with a little Spanish we spoke and understood, we made it work. The villa was compact, very clean, well equipped and reasonably private. The view and sound of the waves was superb, its actually the best thing about the place. The complex of villas all shared the same pool which was kept spotlessly clean. The salt water pool was a pleasure to swim in, the surrounding ground was well maintained and clean. Excellent location, good parking close to the complex, there are some tourist restaurants within walking distance although not the best Menorca has to offer. A small double bed but firm and comfortable mattress was provided. Plenty of hot water, a coffee machine and good facilities for making meals. A good fridge freezer with ice block was a good feature. Excellent Miele washing machine. A television with remote was provided in each room, we didn't use them, a nice touch. The second room had some comfortable looking bunk beds, good depth of mattress on each. The main bedroom had a ceiling fan and both bedrooms had shutters and fly screens, thus helped a decent sea breeze ( in September) to flow through and keep things reasonably cool. We slept well. I liked the view most of all and it's that made the stay.
Negative: Extremely disappointed at the lack of sun loungers for the terrace, not even a comfortable chair to kick back on! The chairs provided were comfortable for a meal on the terrace,but that was where the comfort ended - it wasn't possible to actually chill-out! The senora provided us with an alternative chair, it was the best she could find, she said it wasn't new and it really wasn't, it fell apart within a few uses. This is no reflection on her, more a reflection on the poor seating provisions. It really took the comfort, chill out aspect out of the holiday. I actually had to go and sit inside several times to sit on a comfortable seat, I really don't want to do that on holiday! Also, we seem to be the only ones not able to use the upper floor on the roof, so no barbecue provision. We did ask but unfortunately couldn't understand all of the Spanish, I did pick up that it may be to do with the time of year and the wind? The kettle was not the best, the lid did flick open and splash me with boiling water on a few occasions, really not a deal breaker though. The fitted wardrobes in both rooms are decent and clean, the door in the main bedroom doesn't work properly and was a bit of a nuisance, I didn't mention this because it was something we could cope with, and the language issue. It wasn't really clear before booking that when you're provided with towels and change of bedding - if staying for more that a week - that meant having to wash the towels as they wouldn't be changed ( I had already doing this anyway but it would have been nice to know) and that the sheets are just dropped off and not changed. It's the first time staying anywhere, beit Menorca, Spain, Italy etc. that we've just been handed some sheets to change ourselves. Again, it's not a deal breaker but it would be good to have known this before booking.
